Panel A
Tommy and Alice sitting on the edge of Tommy's bed.
TOMMY: "So what happens now?"
ALICE: "They sleep. Tomorrow they wake up, and all their fears are gone. All their worry, all their anxiety, shame, and bitterness. Just gone."
Panel B
Continue scene.
TOMMY: "They'll be happy?"
ALICE: "They'll be numb. That's the thing about despair. It takes over everything. Without it, they won't know what to feel. Or how. They won't feel much of anything for a while."
Panel C
Continue scene.
ALICE: "But that's good. It'll change their perspective. They won't know how or what, but they'll know that something has changed."
Panel D
Continue scene. Alice smiles and jokes with Tommy, whose mood seems to be lightening.
ALICE: "They'll feel lighter. More optimistic. Smarter, healthier, prettier. A little taller, even."
TOMMY: "Taller?"
ALICE: "It's weird, right? But yeah. And that's a good time for love to find its way back in."
Panel E
Continue scene. Alice musses Tommy's hair. They both smile.
ALICE: "With a little encouragement, I'm sure they'll make the right choices."
TOMMY: "Yeah?"
ALICE: "Yeah. If you help them."
