Continue scene. Tommy watches Alice's face as she talks. Alice seems deeply sad, and clearly empathizes very strongly with Tommy.
ALICE: "Well, people say different things. Most of them nice. They say love is kindness or loyalty or grace. Or they say that love is forgiveness or compassion."
Panel B
Continue scene. Tommy listens as Alice continues to talk about love. But Alice is staring off into space as she speaks, as though she is no longer talking to Tommy, but herself perhaps.
ALICE: "Or honesty, or generosity, or pure simple joy. But that's not what love is. All those things are good, but they are not love."
Panel C
Continue scene. Alice seems to be talking to herself.
ALICE: "Love is a choice."
Panel D
Continue scene. Alice returns to the moment as Tommy speaks.
TOMMY: "A choice?"
ALICE: "Yes."
Panel E
Alice continues, wiping tears from Tommy's face as she does so. Tommy watches her with gratitude and... love?
ALICE: "Love is the decision to build a home in your heart, where all those great and wonderful things can come and live inside you, and always stay with you. Love is the thing that draws goodness to us, and makes it stick."
