Alice and Tommy sit cross-legged on Tommy's floor as they talk. Alice listens carefully, clearly concerned for the boy as Tommy tries to put his fears into words.
ALICE: "Why are you afraid of your parents?"
TOMMY: "They're always fighting! They argue all the time and they try to hide it but I can tell that they are just so angry and all they wanna do is yell at each other!"
Panel B
Continue scene. Alice tries to comfort Tommy as he cries.
ALICE: "Tommy, I'm sure your parents love each other very much."
TOMMY: "I hate it!"
Panel C
Continue scene. Alice backs off a little as Tommy yells at her.
TOMMY: "I hate love! It makes you angry and scared and mean and I just hate it! Love is stupid! I don't ever wanna love anyone!"
Panel D
Alice takes Tommy's hands as he cries.
ALICE: "Tommy. What you're talking about... That's not love."
TOMMY: "Then what is love?"
